Momma's Basement Bash

The music I decided to use on this page is titled "Celebration" and it was choosen because Jamie Edens is a young skater whose courage, determination and talant should be celebrated. This is Jamie at Nationls 2001 just a few days after getting the cast off her broken foot.

Jamie began skating seriously when she was five. Up untill then she had skated sessions and practice with her Mom but she didn't acturally begin her private lessons until August of 1998. Her brother started at the same time and they were eventually paired up by their coach as a J.O. Team. Between the two of them, they skated singles, pairs, and figures all season long and place 4th at Southwest Pacific Regional Championships in 1999 which sent them to Nationals in Syracuse that year. After that season, sadly, Jamie's brother decided that skating was not for him, but Jamie however, persevered and went on to place or win almost every singles, freestyle and figure event she skated from that point on.

At eight years old, Jamie is now winding up her third competitive season with a 2nd place singles and a 3rd place figure award at the 2001 Regional Championships. Unfortunately, she fell at home and broke her foot just three days after the Regional Championships. Jamie was devastated at not being able to compete at the National Championships which were just a month away, but, being the little trooper that she is Jamie and her Mother Melinda looked to the future and started cutting music and desiging costumes for the next season. However, on August 3rd I recieved an email from Jamie's Mom saying.

Jamie's cast came off this morning and we went to the rink and she skated beautifully!!! We're leaving for Nationals TOMORROW!!!

And yes indeed they did go to Nationals. The day after coming out of a cast for a broken foot Melinda and Jamie were on a plane to Pensacola, Flordia. All the pictures on this page are taken just days after a cast came off the left foot.
