Jerry's Jukebox
This lovely Dance Skater is Dee Fortunato from Las Vegas, NV. Dee has been skating since she was 11 years old but took the floor for Competition for the very first time in 1995. She brought home a Gold in Figures which was just the first of many Trophies and Medals to come in Figures and Dance through the 1996 and 1997 Seasons. In 1997 she skated Junior Olympic Division and placed 4th at Southwestern Regionals which earned her a trip to Nationals in Pensacola Florida. There she placed in the Top Ten (10th) out of 36 in her event at Nationals.
"When I first stepped on the floor in 1995 for my first Figure event I never would have believed for one moment that I would be Skating at Regionals, let alone Nationals. Nationals was the highlight of my Competition Skating and I will never forget those Moments...I am still competing in Competitions, placing in Figures and Solo Dance. I recieved a 1St Place Trophy for the year in Veteran Women Figures, and a 3rd Place Trophy for the year in Masters Solo Dance in Southern California for the year of 2000. Here are a few photo's from my Skating Career thus far, and the next page will be filled with photo's taken at my Rink with the Skate Club. I hope you enjoy them."
If you would like to chat with Dee about Skating she says she loves to get email and invites fellow skaters to email her.
Lovely Dee just turned 62 years young in Feb, 2001 (yes I have her permission to print her age!) and says she is not ready to compete in Veterans Solo Dance yet since they only go two laps around the floor. She is still competing in Novice Solo Dance and sometimes in Masters Solo Dance depending on what Dances they draw for the Competition. Her favorite Dance is the Marylee Foxtrot.
Here is Dee posing at Regionals in 1997 before she knew that she had won a Bronze Medal that would take her to Nationals
"Debbie, I want to take this time to tell you just how important you are in my life. Thank You so much for your talent in training me and the friendship you have given me that has enriched my life so much. I am so grateful for your friendship and support." Love Dee
